OpenAI Strengthens Leadership with New CFO and CPO

OpenAI, a pioneer in artificial intelligence research and deployment, has welcomed two new leaders to its team: Sarah Friar as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Kevin Weil as Chief Product Officer (CPO). This strategic move aims to further accelerate the organization’s mission to create safe and beneficial AI that benefits humanity.

Sarah Friar, formerly CEO of Nextdoor, brings extensive experience in finance and leadership from her previous roles at Square, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, and Salesforce. She is also a Board Member of Walmart and Consensys, a Fellow of the Aspen Institute, and Co-Chair of the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. Friar’s primary focus will be on leading the finance team to support OpenAI’s core research capabilities and ensuring the organization’s ability to scale to meet the needs of its growing customer base.

Kevin Weil, previously President, Product and Business at Planet Labs, has a strong background in product development from his roles at Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and serves on the boards of The Nature Conservancy and Black Product Managers Network.
